Albert Bernard Peña was born on September 29, 1958, in Mountainair, New Mexico, to Magdalena Garcia and Ernesto Peña. As the oldest of five children—Johnny Peña, Candy Peña, Frank Peña, and Frank Rubio—Albert naturally took on the role of protector, a role he carried with pride throughout his life.
Albert was a strong, tough man with a kind heart and a great sense of humor. He was always lending a hand to neighbors and looking out for others. Friendly and easygoing, he made friends wherever he went. He loved fixing things, cruising in his classic cars and motorcycles, and spending time with his rescued dogs. Humble and honest, Albert lived with integrity and found peace in the mountains he called home.
Albert was preceded in death by his mother, Maggie; his father, Ernie; his sister, Candy; and his niece, Roberta.
He leaves behind his only child, his son, Jerry Salazar and his wife, Anastacia; seven grandchildren, Jeremiah, Gabriel, Khloee, Xzander, Julieanna, Christopher, and Santiago; and four cherished great-grandchildren, Valerie, Silas, Aiden, and Myla. He shared a special bond with all his nieces and nephews—Albert, Johnny, Frankie, Santos, Johnise, and all of his siblings' children. He has a huge family and countless friends who will carry his memory with them always.
Albert was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
Services for Albert will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Assembly of God Church in Mountainair, NM, at 11:00 am. Albert will be placed to rest immediately following the service at the Mountainair Cemetery.
