Albert Sanchez, born November 28, 1938, to Aurelio and Dulcinea Sanchez, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, surrounded by his family. Albert was the second of seven children and grew up surrounded by a loving family in Belen, NM.
Albert is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Coby, who was the light of his life. Together, they created a legacy of love and faith that will live on in their family. He is cherished by his children, Lorena Piedrahita and her husband German, and their sons Andres and Nicolas; and Roy-Daniel Sanchez and his wife Kirsten, and their children Adia and Ezra.
He is also survived by his brothers Arnold Burnham (Maralu) of Phoenix, AZ, Charles Sanchez of Belen, NM, and Reyes Sanchez (Jane) of Las Vegas, NM; his sister Fina Saavedra of Rio Rancho, NM; his brother-in-law John Chavez of Belen, NM (husband of his late sister Iris); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Albert was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Aurelio and Dulcinea Sanchez; his sisters, Sofia Castillo and Iris Chavez; his baby brother Jose Aurelio Enrique "Henry" Sanchez and his brother-in-law Patrick Saavedra.
Albert was a man of deep faith, contagious joy, and unconditional love. He believed wholeheartedly in the wisdom of these words: "The most intelligent thing to do in life is to love God with all of your heart, all of your soul, and
all of your might with humility. Trust God, seek his mercy, and everything will fall in place."
A devout member of the Knights of Columbus, Albert was actively involved in his church community at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Peralta. He and his wife lovingly brought communion to the sick and homebound for 23 years and were dedicated participants in the Marriage Enrichment ministry, offering their support to strengthen the bonds of faith and love in marriages.
A skilled graphic illustrator, Albert dedicated 38 years of service to Kirtland Air Force Base. He took great pride in his work but found the greatest fulfillment in his relationships and his impact on others. His sense of humor and ability to bring joy to those around him were gifts that endeared him to all who knew him.
Albert will be remembered as a man of faith, humility, humor, and unwavering love for his family and community. His kindness and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta, NM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus Color Guard presentation at 9:40 a.m. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m., with the Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Albert's favorite charities: Smile Train, Carmelites in Santa Fe, Maryknoll Missions, or the Franciscan Missionaries.
