Alex Clark Obituary

Alex Clark Jr. was born in McNary Az, On September 23, 1950 to Alex and Lucy Clark, Alex and his wife moved to Los Lunas in 1977. Alex worked the night shift at Bates Lumber until they closed the sawmill down. He then worked at Goodrich roofing and later went on to work for Alpha construction where he was the foreman at Sandia. Alex was a devoted husband, a loving father to 3 daughters Terri, Emily, and Stephanie.

He was one the best grandfathers to his 4 grandchildren, Tyraa, Jada, Anida, and Tashawn; and a great-grandfather to Alani. Alex was a God-fearing man who believed when you do good, good comes back ten-fold, he was a giver a man that walked by Faith and not by sight. Alex faced many challenges when it came to walking, but he had such strong determination to continue to push forward and never give up. He challenged himself daily by going to the park every morning to walk, he desired to move and never sit still. After Alex retired, he became an avid fisherman, a gardener, and overall jokester. He truly believed laughter was good for your soul, his favorite saying was, "You gotta laugh to keep from crying". Alex, his wife, and their children lived by that and had many laughs together. Alex was a big man, but he was a gentle giant, he had a genuine soul he cared for everyone around him. In September of 2022, Alex lost his wife after a long battle with Cancer; that's when he tried his best to live by his own words, "I'm gonna laugh to keep from crying", but he cried more often than not. His daughter, Stephanie would tell him that her mom left so he could learn how to truly love unconditionally. Shortly after Ida's passing, he developed a relationship with his middle daughter, Emily, that was truly amazing to watch as they became each other's comfort. Alex depended on her so much, especially at night when she would rotate his feet and legs every 30 minutes or so.

Some of Alex's favorite past-times were playing basketball until he could no longer play, watching Gunsmoke, playing pole on his tablet, and listening to gospel music. His all time pride and joy was spending time with his only great-granddaughter, Alani. Alex was just a great man in general, and will be greatly missed.

A small note from his baby-girl Stephanie: "Daddy, Thank you for all the laughter and happiness. Thank you for showing us girls what the true definition of what a husband, father, and friend looks like. Thank you for trusting me to care for you, especially in your final weeks and days. It was an honor to be your caregiver and nurse. I love you always buddy"!

Alex is survived by his children, Emily Clark, Stephanie Clark son-in-law Ajamu Clayton; grandchildren, Tyraa Clark-McCloud, Jada Clayton, Anida Clayton, Tashawn McCloud; great-granddaughter, Alani Clark; brothers, Jesse williams, William Clark, George Clark; sister, Lottie Wilson; and God-daughter, Jessica Poppenberg.
