The world grew a little quieter on June 11th, 2025 when our mother, Amy Carin (Buchanan) Gordon, age 51, slipped peacefully from this world into whatever comes next - hopefully some place with endless cherry limeades, classic rock, and no passwords to remember.
Born on May 31st, 1974 in Riverside, California to Jean (Durland) and William "Bill" Buchanan, Amy was a classic 80's kid who loved to spend her days surrounded by friends and listening to music. When she found herself preparing to become a young mother, mom hit the books hard and earned her diploma two years early, shortly before welcoming her first daughter Aubree Cheyenne in February of 1991. Mom walked the line as Valedictorian in June of 1991 at Canyon Springs High School in Riverside, California.
Our mother met the love of her life, Dwayne Gordon in 1992 and the two eventually married on April 8th, 1995. They welcomed their second daughter, Allyson Ciara, in March of 1997, before moving to Belen, NM in 2000 where they grew their family over the next nine years, adding Ashley Carin in April of 2003, Delaynie Austin in May of 2007 and Rebeckah Lynne in September 2009.
Amy was never the loudest in the room, but somehow, made the most noise in life-the kind that echoes in laughter, inside jokes, and memories that will make those who knew her smile through the ache. She spent her days making others feel seen, heard, and when appropriate- lovingly teased. Whether it was a spontaneous road trip or a perfectly timed sarcastic remark, mama knew how to make a mark on everyone she met. Being a homemaker, she loved to stay busy, constantly working on a project. From scrapbooking to creating furniture and children's toys, she had an eye for a deal and a vision that nobody else could see.
Our mother is preceded in death by her daddy William Buchanan, her precious daughter Rebeckah Lynne, maternal grandparents John and Lydia Evans, paternal grandparents Harry and Margaret Buchanan, and her uncles Jeff Evans, Kenneth Buchanan and Jim Buchanan, father-in-law Dale Gordon and Grandmother-in-law Carol Clay.
She is survived by her husband Dwayne Gordon, daughters: Aubree (Buchanan) McKinney (Jeremy McKinney), Allyson Gordon (Jonathan Mascarenas), Ashley Gordon (Zeus Felix), Delaynie Gordon (Ivan Cano); mother Jean Durland and step-father Ralph Durland; mother-in-law Mindy Gordon; siblings Kari Buchanan, Eric Buchanan (Gidget Buchanan); brother in law Kevin Gordon (Karla Gordon); grandchildren Isaiah McKinney and Liam Thomas McKinney, nieces and nephews: Zachary Matton, Zoey Matton, Tyler Caudill, Brennan Buchanan and Kellan Buchanan, Steven Gordon, Genesis Gordon and Mia Gordon, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held for Amy on Monday, June 23 , 2025, at Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel. A visitation will be held at 10:00 am, followed by the memorial service at 10:30 am. Bring your best memories, your best stories and your best laugh-because that's what she would have wanted: not mourning, but remembering. Not silence, but music.
Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, where an online guest register is available at www.noblin.com
