Anna Ruth "Ruthie" Sweat Barrett Moore, age 81, a resident of Mountainair, NM, passed away on the morning of June 12, 2026. She was born on February 27, 1945 in Chickasha, OK to Percy William and Elva Leona Sweat. She was the fifth addition to this family unit. Shortly afterwards her family moved to Chandler, AZ for one of their son's health. Then later to Ft. Sumner, NM, for many years where the three oldest children graduated from High School, and she completed elementary school. The family moved east to Portales, NM, where she graduated High School in 1963.
Shortly after graduation she began a career in the field of banking and worked for Clovis National Bank many years. She met her first husband, Troy Barrett, in Clovis while he was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base, and they married June 19, 1971. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Jenifer Janell, on May 26, 1977. After being discharged from the military, they moved to Lubbock, TX where she also worked in banking. It wasn't long before they moved to Troy's hometown of Perkins, OK, and they lived in the state of OK until 1986.
In 1986 they settled in Mountainair, NM where Troy owned and operated Action Heating and Plumbing, and Ruthie worked as secretary-treasurer & receptionist of Mountainair Christian Center, pastored by her two sisters, Shirley and Doris, and New Beginnings Christian Academy. She truly was an anchor of the ministries with her unique personality and love of children. She retired after 17 years of service and opened Ruthie's Flowers and Gifts, which she enjoyed immensely. It was her joy to make occasions special for others and came to know nearly everybody in town. After Troy's death in 2018, she continued with her floral business until December, 2020.
On May 1, 2021, she married Billy Moore in Mountainair, NM. Following Bill's injury in September, 2021 and her declining health beginning in 2023, they lived in Rio Rancho with her daughter for medical services. Billy and Ruthie enjoyed their time traveling and visiting family members. They returned to Mountainair in April, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her parents Percy and Elva Sweat; two brothers, Floyd Ladell Sweat & Duane Sweat; and three sisters, Elsie Lawanna Sweat, Lola Marie Hacker, and Shirley Sweat.
