Montoya and children; Daughter Janice Montoya and Son Jude Montoya. Tony was the perfect example of what a husband and father should be.
Tony was born March 26, 1948 in Albuquerque, NM the son of Melcor Sanchez Montoya and Eloisa Pacheco Montoya. He attended St Therese Catholic School, Garfield Middle School and Valley High School. Tony later completed his academic career at TV-I.
He joined The Army in 1966 and served until honorably discharged in 1969. While in The Army, Tony served as a HAWK Missile Fire Control Crewman and earned the National Defense Service Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
Upon discharge from The Army, he worked as an Auto Mechanic and later shared his expertise as an auto parts salesman at Big A Auto Parts, Carquest and Advance Auto Parts where he gained the respect of numerous colleagues and clients.
Tony had numerous passions which included sports, dogs, cars, music, history and technology. Whether it was him playing with his puppies (Landa, Sammy, Lilah, Winnie, Lucy and Pepper), tinkering with the latest gadgets or computers, reminiscing about the past (Army Days, Albuquerque life in the 50s and 60s, JFK, Muhammed Ali, and Mickey Mantle), or catching him jamming out to his favorites - The Beatles (Whom he called "The Boys") or Elvis Presley (Whom he referred to as The King) he approached everything with excitement and a child-like curiosity.
He will be best known for his unique charisma. He was genuine with every conversation he engaged in, and his legacy of love, humor and kindness will never be forgotten.
Services will be held at St Charles Church, located on 1818 Coal Pl SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106 at 10:00am on April 23, 2025, followed by burial services at The Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30pm.
