Ardith Couzens Obituary
Ardith Arlene Couzens, age 82, has taken Jesus' hand and joined heaven's musicians on October 20, 2025; one day before she and her husband (Paul) would celebrate their 47th anniversary.
Ardith was born on February 14, 1943, to Jim and Wanetta Kelly of Elkhart, Kansas. She has one brother, Kletis.
Ardith spent the first 18 years of her life in Elhart enjoying many adventures with her favorite horse. She loved learning and never missed a day of school. She was saved and sanctified at an early age and became a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Ardith attended Sothern Nazarene University (Bethany) and graduated cum lade with a BS in elementary education in 1965. She went on to obtain a master's degree from Emporia State University in 1969.
Ardith began her teaching career in Crownpoint, NM at a boarding school for the Bureau of Indian affairs. She then moved to Gallup, NM and taught 4th grade at Red Rock Elementary School for 33 years and retired in 2001.
Ardith married Paul Couzens in 1978. They moved to Rio Communities in 2002 upon their retirement. Most of their retirement years were spent traveling the world with work and witness trips through the Nazarene church, the Jesus Film Harvest Partners and with various educational tours. They enjoyed multiple trips to the Holy Land, the Vatican, Europe, Africa, New Zealand, India, United Kingdom and many more culturally diverse locations.
Ardith was a member of the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene where she was the pianist, Sunday School teacher and Women's Ministry coordinator.
Ardith is survived by her husband Paul, brother Kletis and family of Elkhart, as well as many friends and fellow followers along the heavenly path.
