Charles “Chucky” Muncy Obituary

Charles J Muncy Jr. of Socorro, New Mexico was born March 5, 1973 and passed away on June 1, 2026.

Charles John Muncy Jr., aka Chuck, Chuckie, and Uncle Chuck, left behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and a deep love for family, horses, cattle, working dogs and the cowboy way of life.

He is preceded in death by his father; Charles J Muncy Sr.; maternal grandparents, Jim and Nadine Hensley; paternal grandparents, Luke and Nellie Muncy; and brother in law, Johnny Ray McKinley.

He is survived by his loving mother, Patricia Ann Muncy; devoted sisters, Connie Jo McKinley and Kathy Lucille (Alex) Bernal; his adored nephews and nieces, Tyrell (Kacee) Davis, Kyle (Karly) Davis, Nicole Bilbo and Alec, Leon Fountain and Ciera, Leanne Fountain and Jon, Lelan Fountain and Mia, Lamar Fountain and Selena. As well as his 14 great-nieces and nephews.

A true cowboy at heart, Chuck found his greatest joy in the simple things—working cattle, spending time horseback, catching wild cattle and an occasional team roping. He loved good horses, and none held a more special place in his heart than his faithful horse, Fergie. Together they spent countless hours doing what they loved most.

Family meant everything to Chuck. He cherished every moment spent with those he loved and was especially proud of his nephews. Few things brought him more happiness than watching them rodeo, cheering them on and sharing in their successes. His encouragement, cowboy wisdom, and unwavering support will be remembered by all who knew him.

After a long and hard fight with cancer, Chuck passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of family and friends. He faced his illness with the same grit, courage, and determination that defined the way he lived his life. A fighter to the very end, he never gave up and met every challenge with the strength and resilience of a true cowboy

Though his time here was much too short, the memories he created and the lives he touched will live on. His cowboy spirit, love for the land, devotion to family, and passion for living life to the fullest will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his loving family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have cowboyed, roped, or had a special memory with him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A celebration of life for Chuck will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 11:00 am, at Kelly Hall at the Socorro County Fairgrounds.
