David Garcia Obituary
David Anthony Garcia a 61 year old resident of Rio Communities/Belen passed away suddenly on Thursday May 21, 2026. David was born in Albuquerque, NM on July 28, 1964 where he grew up until moving to Belen in junior high school to live with Uncle Tany, Aunt Margie and their five girls. In a home full of girls there was nothing feminine about him.
David went to Belen High school until he didn't. David was a hard worker highly skilled in sheet metal and metal roofing and worked with several companies including Crego, Ridgetop and Sustainable Roofing.
David was always willing to use his skills to lend a helping hand. When he was no longer able to work, David crafted wood and leather. David loved animals and the outdoors and was so proud of his little ranch where at one time he had chickens, pigs, goats, cows, and a horse. He loved to go to Uncle Julians cabin in Chama and had a special connection with the Pecos wilderness.
David loved to make people laugh and always laughed at his own jokes. He was a loyal friend and never met a stranger. David was easy-going most of the time but was ready to fight for his family and friends and always stood up to bullies.
David was a member of Christian Family Church of God where he volunteered many hours to help wherever he could. David had his struggles but knew God and loved Him with all his heart.
David was preceded in death by his parents David D. Garcia, Jane and Rick Van Damme; Brothers Toby Garcia and Billy Van Damme; sister Cheryl Farris.
David is survived by his son David Alex Garcia, Brothers Roe, Richard (Marcella)
Daniel (Kellie) William (Francine); Sisters Sondra (Courtney) Bernadette, Christian, Paula and Judy, numerous cousins, nephews and nieces and lifelong friends Daniel and Peter whom he loved and will miss him but not forget him.
Services for David will take place on Saturday, May, 30, 2026. A visitation will be held at 10:00 am, followed by a celebration of life, at 10:30 am, at Christian Family Church of God in Belen, NM.
In Lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you make donations in David's name to The Christian Family Church of God.
