David Stange, age 80, a resident of Sabinal, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at home with his family on July 4, 2026. David was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin to parents Edward Stange and Donnabelle Stange. His family, which included 5 siblings (Eddie, Mark, Sherry, Debi, and Phil) moved to Albuquerque, where he spent most of his younger years, then moved to his wife's family ranch in Sabinal where he spent 30 years with his beloved wife June Rose Stange and many dogs and cats.
David, a musician and rancher served in the Army during Vietnam and raised his kids Rita and Errol while nurse June worked nights. He loved music, including The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan, and enjoyed playing the guitar and was in many bands growing up including the family band Sidekick. He enjoyed going on walks in the "hills" and bosque, making sopapillas, and traveling with his family often to Carson City, Nevada where his parents had retired and his sisters and brother-in-law Cliff ("Pally") Buttler resided.
David was preceded in death by his brother Mark Stange, sister Debi Buttler, and brother-in-law Cliff Buttler, and is survived by his loving wife June, son Errol Stange and daughter-in-law Megan Synk, and granddaughter Greta June; daughter Rita Hayes and son-in-law Bradley Hayes; brothers Eddie and Phil Stange and wife Pat Stange and sister Sherry Von Stange; in addition to his in-laws Rudy & Laura Chavez and children, and Yolanda Chavez and children.
There will be no services at this time.
