David James Wagner, born on February 7th of 1973 left us far too soon, and unexpectedly on February 15, 2025, in Luis Lopez, New Mexico. He was the beloved son of the late Lester J.
Wagner and Maria Wagner, of San Antonio, New Mexico. He and his family have been long-term residents to the San Antonio and Socorro New Mexico areas.
"Dave," as he was known by, was affectionate, always happy and everyone loved him like a brother. He was loving and kind. He had a lot of joy, as Dave would go into any room, and it would just light it up because he would tell jokes and share stories. He would always make you smile and laugh even when you didn't want to.
He loved the outdoors, and he loved his beloved and only dog, Bubbles, a pit-mix. He was a good handy-man, as if there was anything you needed such as something to be fixed, he found the solution. He was a good mechanic. He would be there, to help and be the one you could count on. Even when he was little, he was interested in car mechanics. He was very focused on engines and excelled at learning all he could about cars and mechanics. His sister Esther remembers that he desired to take her on a dirt bike ride and their father said he was concerned it would be dangerous, and Dave found a way to make the ride happen anyway, as he loved to make others smile.
He had a lot of friends in the area, and he wanted to stay close to home. He knew that if he moved away, he would have not had the support and love of his friends and family nearby. He was loved by so many, and had many friends that loved him, and called him brother. His contagious laugh will be remembered -- and will be something about him that we will never forget.
His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a tireless worker, often working from the time he got up to the time he went to bed. He was always polite to everyone, and didn't have a mean bone in his body. Many remarked on his incredible patience.
His dedication to helping others and using his handyman gifts — and his desire to be there for others epitomized his joyful and loving nature. He truly was on of a kind.
He is survived his loving mother, Maria Wagner, and was preceded in death by his father, the late Lester J. Wagner; as well, his beloved sister, Esther Wagner (and brother-in-law Joe Torres) of Socorro, New Mexico also his sister Irma Wagner Fourmy (and brother-in-law Richard Fourmy) of Phoenix, Arizona as well as his long-term girlfriend and partner Marilyn Green, of Socorro, New Mexico. Dave and Marilyn were together for seven years and were committed to their life together. Dave was a beloved uncle to Amarissa Gonzales, Alizaya Gonzales (both of Phoenix, Arizona), as well as Joe Torres, Jim Torres, Jaydon Torres and Jarick Torres, of Socorro, New Mexico. Also the late Bobby Green of Phoenix, Arizona as well Savaughn Green, of Phoenix, Arizona. All of Dave's family who adored him dearly, as well as a large network of friends and loved ones in the community.
Those who knew Dave will remember him for his interest in making others smile and overwhelming ability to tell jokes and his unwavering commitment to working as a handyman. He had a rare gift for making others feel warm, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.
