Deana Kachelmyer, age 87, a resident of Bosque Farms, New Mexico. Passed away on March 17, 2025. Services are going to take place April 10th, 2025 10:30am at Grace Fellowship NM 3384 HWY 47 Los Lunas, NM 87031.
Deana Ruth (Horne) Kachelmyer was born on January 21, 1938, and peacefully transitioned to eternal life in heaven, after a life well-lived. Deana left an indelible mark on countless lives during her 87 years. She was no superwoman, and yet one faithful step at a time, she did a world of good and radiated life-changing love in the many places she lived.
Upon her marriage to John Kachelmyer in 1965, she moved to Japan, where they cared for orphaned teen boys. Among the significant places she lived, in 1970, they moved to Belen, NM, and established Christian Mission to Youth, Inc. as an umbrella for their ministry. John and Deana relocated to Honduras in 1976 and started an orphanage. In 1993, they were called to Romania, where they opened a home for boys and also a ministry to poor Roma villages. They retired to Belen, NM in 2010, while the ministry in Romania and Honduras continued with their guidance.
Deana was predeceased by her husband John and her sister Norma Horne Lewis. She is survived by her sisters Carla Price of Lone Oak, TX and Marinell (Mike) Turnage of Dallas, TX; her devoted friend, Nancee Matthews of Bosque Farms, NM; her children, Genevieve, of Oklahoma City, OK; Ruth Ellen (Paul) of Gaithersburg, MD; Daniel (Laura) of Jefferson City, TN; Roger (Angie) of Duluth, MN; Lionel of Dallas, TX; and Michael (Gemini) of Mesa, AZ; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and many others who experienced her motherly love.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Deana’s memory may be made to Christian Mission to Youth, Inc., PO Box 222, Peralta, NM 87042. Though Deana and John are now with Jesus, the ministry of Christian Mission to Youth continues as faithfully as ever through those they mentored to take their place.
