Devona Glenna (De Mallie) Postlethwait

On Wednesday, April 16th our loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother—Devona Glenna Postlethwait—went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her mother and husband.
Devona was born in May of 1973 to Robert "Bob" S. DeMallie Jr. and Catherine "Cathie" R. Carnell in Long Beach, California. From day one she was a fiercely loved person and troublemaker, often pushing as many buttons of the people around her as possible.
After graduating from high school, Devona met her first husband and began life as an Army wife, initially spending time in El Paso, Texas where her first son, Morris, was born and where her mother Cathie was living. After a few years in El Paso, the family was then stationed in Baumholder, Germany where Devona's second son, Devon, was born.
During her time in Germany, Devona often cared for the children of other service members in the barracks as a means of not only supporting her own family but also those of the families around her. This compassionate love was one of the many wonderful traits that Devona had and fostered in others.
After returning to the United States and separating from her first husband, Devona met the love of her life—Victory Postlethwait—while she was working the front desk, and he was on a service call replacing tires of one of the fleet vehicles. Little did she know at the time that when he walked in and asked for a water that she was meeting the man she'd spend the rest of her life with.
Devona had a deep love of horse, starting from an early age. She always tried to feed people as soon as they came into her house and wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. In her last few years, she developed a joy in ballooning and couldn't stop talking about how she wanted to be called 'GiGi' when she heard that she was going to be a grandma (Devona had the opportunity to meet her granddaughter, Ellery, four days before she passed).
Over the years that Devona and Victory were together, they raised two successful boys who then went on to start their own families with the same core beliefs that they had; love and know Jesus, hard work is the only way to success, never start a fight and take care of those around you.
Devona is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Victory Postlethwait; sons Devon and Morris (Ashley) Sparkman and their daughter Ellery; parents, Bob (Vickie) DeMallie, Cathie Carnell and Ronald Bernard; aunts Kimmarie (John) Simonsen and Judy DeMallie and many loving cousins across the country.
A celebration of life was held on June 7th at Christian Fellowship Church in Los Lunas.
The family would like to thank the caring professionals at Ambercare and Noblin Funeral Services for the dignity they gave our mom in the final days of her life and afterward.
