Dora Faye (Whaley) Ward

Dora Ward, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on the evening of May 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born to Irvin and Martha Whaley, in Texas, on April 24, 1941, she was the eldest of their children. Dora met and married her loving husband, Jerald E Ward, on May 3, 1957. And together, they shared almost 70 beautiful years together. Dora embraced motherhood with grace, raising their three daughters, Lynn, Elaine, and Lori in their family home in Quemado. Despite the demands of motherhood, Dora loved to sew, bake, and attend church.

Dora was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Martha Whaley; her sister, Carol Jean Gerloff; her brother, Doyle Wayne "Butch" Whaley; and great-grandson, Nathan Turnbow.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, Jerald E Ward; sister-in-laws, Patty Whaley and Joan Ward; brother-in-law, Douglas Gerloff; sister, Cindy Long and Nelton "Bubba" Long; her children, Lynn Mesa, Elaine (Alex) Chavez, Lori (Alfred) Fernandez; five grandchildren, Joe Dean Turner (Ashley Anaya), Lucrecia Armijo (Lawrence Armijo), Julia (Steven) Aguilar, Lisa Valenzuela, and Juan (Joni) Fernandez. She also leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren, Matthew Rodriguez, Jared Turner, Abby Turner, Avery Turner, Ashlyn Aguilar, Alyssa Aguilar, Juan Fernandez III, Lexie Fernandez, Johnny Valenzuela, and Haven Valenzuela; she is also survived by one great -great-grandson, Lance Turnbow; as well as as many nieces and nephews as well as cherished friends.

A graveside service for Dora will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:00 am, at the Quemado Cemetery.
