Dorothy "Dot" Marie Harkleroad, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away peacefully at home on June 21, 2026.
Dorothy was born January 12, 1938 in Gainesville, Texas to James and Ena Mae Sikes. The family moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1950. She married Albert Lee Harkleroad on April 15, 1976 and they moved to Los Lunas. In the summer of 1988, she and Lee moved to Liberal, Kansas until Lee retired. They spent some time in Grand Prairie, Texas before moving back to Los Lunas in 1998.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ena Sikes. Her brothers Clifton Carroll, James Lee and Ronald Glen. Sisters Bettye Darlyne "Dee" and Judith Ann; her children Janice Marie and Ricky "Damit" Wayne and a very special family friend, Hastings H. Hutchins.
She is survived by her daughter Kaye Lynn Rawlins and son James McElroy (Angela). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, 15 grandchildren, 20 great‑grandchildren and 11 great, great grandchildren; and her special handymen Jake and Ruston.
Besides her family, her loves included cooking and baking, often making Green Chili enchiladas and finishing with her "green cake", sewing, and keeping up the family genealogy. She and Lee loved the outdoors, camping and attending fishing tournaments when he retired from truck driving. Dorothy never ended a phone call or visit without "I Love you more". She will be greatly missed, but her part of the family chain is now complete again.
The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff of Ambercare of Belen for their kindness and compassion during her final days. We would also like to thank the caring professionals of Noblin Funeral Home.
