Edward "Eddie" Vargas

On November 12, 2025, Eddie Vargas of Socorro, NM passed away surrounded by his loved ones. Born on March 24, 1962, to Higinio and Christina (Sanchez) Vargas.

Eddie leaves behind his daughters Lisa Elwood ( J.J Elwood) and Erica Alvarado (Jaime Alvarado). His sister Marie Gonzales and longtime friend Selfa Pecos. His cherished grandchildren Dominic Apodaca, Isiah Apodaca, Desiree Padilla, Josiah Elwood, Elijah Elwood, Zephaniah Elwood, Izabella Elwood, Koshmen Alvarado, Taylah Alvarado, and Jaime Alvarado Jr. His great grandkids Richie Alvarado, Legend Alvarado, Kosh Alvarado, and Joziah Saiz. His nephews and nieces are Eric and Candace Vargas, Anisha Vargas, Alyssa Vargas, and Antonio Vargas.

Eddie is reunited in passing with his parents Higinio and Christina Vargas, his brothers Gene, Alex, and Manuel (Half Pint) and his sister in law Denise Saiz.

Anyone that knew Eddie knew his laugh. His laughter carried and made everyone smile around him. He was a handyman, always loved growing a garden, and being creative with things that he made using his unique craftmanship. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, and I always looked forward to his calls saying, "how about them Cowboys" .

He will be deeply missed by his daughters, son-in-laws, grandkids, great grandkids, nephews, nieces, family and friends.

A funeral mass in honor of Eddie will be held at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro, NM, on December 9, 2025, at 10:30 am. A rosary and mass to follow at 11:00 am. He will be buried in Lemitar, at the La Sagrada Familia Catholic Cemetery following services. A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus.
