It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evelyn Nelson-Chavez-63. She left peacefully on January 27, 2025. She was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her, her memory will forever remain in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her husband, three children and five grandchildren. Pastor Corey Sateren, of SageBrush Church will be officiating the service. Burial services will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque, NM.
She was born on October 8, 1961, in Gallup, NM. She was born of the Black Streak Wood People Clan, born for His Sheaves Leaf Clan Under His Cover Clan.
Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her husband, kids, grandkids and friends. She always loved her company and having lunch dates with her colleagues and friends. Her hobbies included reading her Bible, praying, cooking, baking, making her jewelry, hiking and going on adventures with her family.
Evelyn will be remembered fondly and missed dearly and forever in our hearts.
Survivors include her husband, Stan Chavez of Los Lunas; daughters, Chellen Kersey of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Tish Antonio of Albuquerque, NM; and son, Jayden Chavez, from Los Lunas, NM; grandchildren, Gracie, Allison, Jordyn, Rowan, and Sophia.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Nelson.
Services for Evelyn will take place on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel at 10:00 am. Evelyn will then be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park cemetery in Albuquerque, New Mexico at 1:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be Coltin Kersey, Rick Antonio, Junior Davis, Kirsch Davis, Larry Padilla, and Seles Padilla.
Honorary Pallbearers are Stan Chavez, Jayden Chavez, Kenneth Nelson and Zach Saunders.
The family will be having a reception (Potluck Style) following the burial services at 7509 Painted Pony Trail NW Albuquerque, NM 87120.
