Frances Moneen (Finch) Hyder

Frances Moneen Hyder, known affectionately by friends and family as Moneen, passed away peacefully in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of 90.

Born on January 14, 1936, in Malone, Texas, to Burritt Leroy and Catherine Frances Finch, Moneen's life was defined by a deep commitment to faith, education, and family. A lifelong educator, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Women's University and dedicated many years to teaching in Texas, Arizona, California, and New Mexico. Her passion for shaping young minds left a lasting legacy across the states where she served.

Moneen was a woman of profound faith and was remarkably active in the United Methodist Women's (UMW) groups throughout Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. She and her husband, Frank Hyder, Jr., first met at Trinity-First United Methodist Church in El Paso, beginning a shared life of service. They were particularly active from the late 1970s to the late 1980s at Trinity United Methodist Church in Albuquerque, where they were pillars of the church community.

Moneen was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents; and her son, Jacob Matthew. She is survived by her sons, Perry Hyder (and his wife, Gwen) and David Hyder; her sisters, Susan Finch (and her wife, Nancy) and Carlee Finch Murray; and her grandson, Jack Hyder.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 30th, at Evergreen Cemetery East in El Paso, Texas. Moneen will be interred in the Garden of Devotion, nearby her son Jacob, who rests in the Garden of Meditation.
