Frank Lechalk Obituary

Mr. Frank Jackson Lechalk, Jr. passed away on April 18, 2025. Frank, also known as Jack, was born in May 1944 in West Virginia to Frank Lechalk, Sr., and Nettie ("Dolly") Greene.

Frank graduated high school in Columbus, Ohio and moved to New Mexico with his family, quickly securing work with General Electric. Drawn by patriotism for his country and desire to make a difference for good, he enlisted to serve in the Vietnam War in August of 1967. He served as Airman First Class in the Air Force, receiving numerous commendations for his service from June 1968 to May 1969. He was honorably discharged in 1971. As a veteran, he was deeply impacted by what he experienced but remained firmly committed to service for the country he loved.

Jack graduated from the University of Albuquerque and married his high school sweetheart. Dedicated to self-learning, and with a strong work ethic and natural charm, his charisma propelled him through the ranks in both Ryder and Rollins Truck Leasing Companies, where he advanced to Regional Director. Later injuries from the war and a subsequent vehicle accident left him disabled and forced to retire mid-career. Jack was an avid outdoorsmen and both skilled and active in hunting, fishing, marksmanship, and archery. It was his love of music and gifting to pick up any instrument and play, however, that became his enduring passion and enabled him to contribute his gifts to his local community and church through teaching and playing guitar.

He is lovingly remembered by his family and friends. He is survived by his four daughters and their families to include daughter, Larinda Pompa, her husband Dennis, and their three children, Andrew, Jessica, and Matthew; his daughter Julie; his daughter Christie Barela, her husband Jason and their four children, Cameron, Jahsh and his wife Kendra and their daughter Adalee, Janson and his wife Kaleo, and Piper; as well as his daughter Rebecca Cerge, and her husband Richard.

In keeping with his wishes, Jack will be laid at rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery "without pomp." Graveside military honors will take place for him on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 1:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to charities supporting veterans.
