Fred Moore Obituary

Fred S. Moore, age 75, of Mountainair, NM, passed away on February 10, 2021 after suffering an unexpected hemorrhage stroke on January 18.

Fred was born July 27, 1945 in Clovis, NM to John and Lela Moore and was raised on the family farm next to Cannon AFB where he developed a strong work ethic that followed him all the days of his life.  Fred was a businessman who started Moore’s Welding Shop right out of high school and soon after started A&M Farm and Ranch stores and A&M Metal Building Systems.  He went on to becoming a licensed real estate broker for over 35 years where he owned Anvil Realty and specialized in farms and ranches.  The last 20 years were spent collecting blacksmith anvils where he amassed the largest and most diverse collection in the United States, and possibly the world.  In 1968, he was drafted into the US Army and served for six years during the Vietnam era.

Fred is survived by his loving wife, Mellene Moore, of 52 years and two sons, Jayson and Jamye, along with their families.  He is also survived by his elder brother and sister along with many nieces and nephews.

A private family burial will occur at White Lake Cemetery near Gran Quivira, NM.  A memorial service for family and friends is scheduled for March 5, 2021 at 11:00 am at Gran Quivira Church, which is 25 miles south of Mountainair.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions to either Gran Quivira Church, HC 75 Box 8, Mountainair, NM 87036 or Hungry Horse Chapel, PO Box 190038, Hungry Horse, MT 59919.
