Gary Keith Nunn
Gary passed into heaven on July 18, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents,
Thomas and Dorothy Nunn, and his sisters Patricia and Sandy. He is survived by his
wife of 51 years, Diane, his children GT (Kim) and Wendy Nunn, his 5 grandchildren
Baylee, Jayce, Jesse, McKenzie and Damien, and many other family members and
friends.
Gary was born on February 13,1953 the second child of Thomas and Dorothy Nunn in
Phoenix, Arizona. His family then moved to Albuquerque where he grew up, went to
school and began his love of the rodeo life. He graduated from Rio Grande High School
and participated in their rodeo team for the duration of his high school years. He
competed in high school rodeos, NMJRA and 4-H. This began the life that he enjoyed
for 73 years.
Gary attended the college in Clovis and completed a course in farm mechanics, then
transferred to New Mexico State University to complete a degree in Agriculture
Education. While at NMSU he completed in intercollegiate rodeos and started raising
his own bucking bulls. Raising and providing bucking stock was the highlight of Gary's
life.
Gary enjoyed hunting with his son and guiding other hunters as they enjoyed the
beautiful open spaces of New Mexico. He took great pride in helping hunters from other
places have a successful hunt that would give them great memories for years to come.
He especially enjoyed the youth hunts and helping those young hunters learn a sport
that they could continue throughout their lifetime.
Gary touched many lives throughout the state during his lifetime.
Rodeo was always Gary's first love. He enjoyed raising bulls and horses and watching
them grow into outstanding bucking stock. This offered him opportunities to help new
and upcoming rough stock riders and provide them a place to learn and practice their
chosen event. Often, they would come over to his house to practice and swap stories.
He was the judging coordinator for the NMRA for years and spent hours scheduling,
training and providing judges for the association's sanctioned rodeos. He was proud to
be a judge and to provide the most qualified judges in New Mexico for those rodeos.
Gary, Craig and GT formed Nunn's Frontier Rodeo Company and Gary was happiest on
the back of the chutes and sharing stories with all who came to participate and watch
the action. He was so proud of his bucking horses, bulls and the professional way the
company produced the show. His proudest moment was when they were named
Contractor of the Year.

G is for Gary, a person you loved or knew, a husband, a dad, a grandpa or just a
neighbor or friend.-
A is for Almighty God, who created him, who made him a son in Baptism, loved him
and welcomes him home.
R is for Rodeo, a place where he watched, rode, and bucked his stock, an arena to
showcase his skills.
Y is for You, as Gary someone who touched and changed you in many ways

N is for the Numerous ways he cared for nature and animals, in his home and on his
ranch, horses and cattle.
U is for Unusual talent, being able to ride as a cowboy, a horseman, even appearing in
some Western movies.
N is for Now, when each person gets to reflect on who Gary was and what he meant in
their lives.
N is for New Mexico, where Gary lived and flourished, loving the mountains, the Rio
Grande and the desert.

We will be celebrating Gary's life and, his love of rodeo November 14, 2026 with a
memorial bronc riding and service. We will keep you updated with place and time.
