Geneva Ann McConnell, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and aunt, passed away peacefully on April 6th 2025 at the age of 60 in Bosque Farms, New Mexico.
Born on July 3rd, 1964 in Ganado, Arizona, Geneva was known for her strength, creativity, and kindness. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, and a source of comfort and inspiration to her family and friends.
Geneva was a member of the United States Air Force for 22 years, and retired as Senior Master Sergeant. Her assignments were located in Arizona, South Korea, Panama, Illinois, Albuquerque, and Virginia. Her achievements include several decorations from the Air Force, earning a Master's Degree in Business Administration, and earning a black belt in karate. She found joy in CrossFit, weight lifting, hiking, running half-marathons, sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, painting, gardening, and playing with her grandbabies. She had a special love for travel and pets.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph McConnell; children, Aaron and Alexis
(Nathaniel); grandchildren, Brex and RyLee; father Sonny Shorty Sr.; sisters Priscilla, Brenda (Bruce), Josephine; brother Sonny Jr.; nieces Ashley, Victoria (Joe), Natrielle, and MacKenzie; nephews Stephan (Kiana), Sonny III, Matthew (Tiffany), Christopher (Leilana), and Jeb. Tsoiis and Naliis include Mason, Oriah, Logan, Rayden, and Kyrie. Second generation nieces and nephews include Sydney, Levi, Mattie, and Jenna.
She was predeceased by her mother Irene J. Shorty, and her brothers Ray S. Shorty and Samuel Shorty.
Geneva will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory and strength will live on in the hearts of those she loved, and her spirit will continue to inspire generations to come.
A memorial service to honor Geneva's life will be held on April 12th 2025 at 12:00pm at Sagebrush Church in Farmington, New Mexico. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 17th 2025 at Calvary Chapel New Harvest in Los Lunas, New Mexico.
