Gilbert D. Jaramillo, born January 22, 1950, in Belen, New Mexico, passed away on November 17, 2025, leaving behind a lifetime of love, warmth, and quiet strength.
A proud Vietnam Army veteran, Gilbert served his country with courage and humility, carrying those same qualities with him throughout the rest of his life. He later retired as a conductor with the BNSF Railroad in Belen, where his steady presence, strong work ethic, and gentle spirit touched all who worked beside him.
Though Gilbert had a lifelong passion for cars and a love of travel that filled his life with adventure, his deepest joy came from the people he held closest. No moments meant more to him than those spent with his grandchildren—Ethan, Aidan, and Dylan—who brought out a light and tenderness in him unlike anything else. Their laughter stirred something in his heart, and their time together became treasured memories the family will hold onto forever. They were, without question, the brightest part of his world.
Gilbert's love for his family ran deep. He is survived by his daughter, Teri R. Jaramillo, his adopted daughter, Kelly Jaramillo, and his brothers, Lawrence and Wilfred. Each carries a piece of his kindness, his wisdom, and the quiet way he made life better simply by being present.
Come rain or shine, a service honoring Gilbert's life will be held on December 2, 2025, at 10:00 am, at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Neither cold or wet weather will not stop us from honoring this great man. For those planning on being in attendance, a few tips; arrive no earlier than 15 minutes ahead of scheduled time. Pull into MIDDLE lane behind the blue Lincoln Navigator upon arrival, and remain in your vehicles until family line is escorted by cemetery staff to commital shelter.
Gilbert will be profoundly missed, tenderly remembered, and forever loved. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, in the lessons he left behind, and in every warm smile he inspired during his beautiful journey through this world.
