James Nanez Obituary

James Angel Nanez, a resident of Los Lunas, New Mexico, passed away surrounded by the love of his family.

Angel was preceded in death by his father, Julian Carrillo, and his beloved puppy he affectionately called his brother, "Kitty."

He is survived by his loving mother, Jennifer Nanez; his siblings, Juan Nanez, Jordan Nanez, and Julissa Nanez; and his cherished nephews, Colton Ford Nanez, lovingly known as "Popo's," and Jason. Angel is also survived by his Uncle tio Sir Jay, Auntie Jess (Yessica), Uncle Jesse ("Foo"), and Auntie Jamie; his Nana Loretta and Grandpa Jimmy; and many cousins—Aaliyah, Jeremiah, Jasmine, Rose, Drey, Elijah, Faith, Jonah, Jesiah, Felicia, and Nicholas—as well as his best friend, Nathan, and many aunties, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him deeply.

Angel graduated from School of Dreams Academy in 2022, where the staff became more than teachers—they became a meaningful part of his life.

He found peace spending time at his Uncle Jay and Aunt Jess's home, relaxing under the trees having conservation and enjoying Jess's cooking beer or his whiskey. Angel enjoyed many simple pleasures in life—renovating our home, playing video games with family and friends, and listening to all kinds of music, from country and Spanish to Native, oldies, and more. He loved watching movies, fishing, and taking drives to the mountains. During BBQ"S if Angel was in the right mood he would be the one to dance which would catch everyone attention. Cooking was one of his favorite ways to show love, especially for his mom—he would often wake up at 4 a.m. to prepare meals for the family, becoming everyone's alarm clock. Having his Coors and Jack Daniel's while cooking or relaxing.

Angel had a passion for shooting and loved spending time at the open fields. He dreamed of traveling the world and one day living in the mountains.

Known for his big heart, Angel was always ready to help anyone—family, friends, or even strangers—whether it meant offering food, money, or simply someone to talk to. He was talented, driven, and full of life—the glue that held his family together and the energy behind every gathering. He loved making TikToks and could accomplish anything he set his mind to.

His nephew Popo's was his pride and joy. Angel looked forward to teaching him about life—taking him fishing, shooting, and showing him how to grow into a strong man.

Angel took immense pride in his family, his roots, and being the man of the house. His story, filled with love, strength, and purpose, is one that will continue to live on through everyone who knew him.

Nathan will give him his last drive which would mean a lot to Angel and Nathan for many reasons but one main reason is if Angel was broken down Nathan would go help him without hesitation.

Pallbearers will be Juan, Jordan, Julissa, Loretta, Kaleb, Jesse, Jay, and Jess.

Angel will be deeply missed and forever loved.
