James Sloan Obituary

On Sunday, May 15, 2022, James Gary Sloan, loving father of two, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 42. James was born on July 11, 1979, in Albuquerque New Mexico to Phyllis Olguin and James Sloan. James was a very loving man. In his earlier years he worked very hard at Tabet Lumber with family and friends. Later in his life he moved to Albuquerque where he was a hard-working manager at True Value for 10+ years. In his free time, he loved collecting anything and everything related to Coca-Cola. He loved to surround himself with family and friends and would always put them before himself. Even though James left us so soon he didn’t leave us empty handed, he left us with the wisdom, strength and love that he shared with us all.James is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Betty Tabet and Herman Tabet; maternal grandparents, Clarice Jones (Donald Jones) and Richard Gunter; his uncle, Chris Tabet, and his cousin; Cayla Tabet; his niece, Trinity Sloan; his stepfather, Ernest Olguin; and his aunt, Cheryl Rainey. James is survived by his mother, Phyllis Olguin (Terry); his father, Jim Sloan; his daughter, Emmalou Sloan; and his son, Wyatt Wimberly; his siblings, Laura Sloan, Richard Martin, Jason Sloan (Courtney); his longtime friend, Marilyn Frischmann; his uncles, Jay Tabet, Larry Tabet (Kelly), Leslie Sloan (Verginia) , Richard Gunter JR; his aunts, Debbie Tabet, Tammy Erisman (Robert) Cindy Washington (Leif) and Jeffie Lewis; his step-grandfather, Jack Price, and many other family members and friends. James was loved by a lot of people. Everyone he met was impacted by him in some way or another. He was an amazing and proud father who always made sure that no matter what, his daughter was always taken care of. He also always made sure that no one was going hungry or without a place to stay. James also had a dog named Louie Pork-chop who he rescued with his daughter and a cat named Fiddle. He always said, “family is family no matter what, you have to be there for others because you would want the same if it was you.”  Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, 418 W. Reinken Ave., (505) 864-4448, where an online guest register is available at www.noblin.com.
