Jaye C. Gardner, 72 years old of Tierra Grande, New Mexico, passed away on July 29, 2025, of multiple organ failure surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 5, 1953, in Washington DC Maryland, to Clifford Arlin and Elsie May Gardner.
He grew up in a wintery and snowy climate and him and his sister, Lorelei spent their summers on the Chesapeake Bay, where they'd go "crabbin' and "fishin." As soon as he graduated high school, he was onto bigger and brighter horizons. He wanted to see the country; the Pacific Ocean,. He hitchhiked all across the country and back again with many adventures both ways.
Jaye was a multifaceted man with interests that crossed many spectrums. He ended up in Valencia County, NM, in 1974, accompanying his mother, Elsie, to a bright new future. She chose to stay. Jaye went back and forth between New Mexico and Virginia several times until his mom got sick in 1991. He then sold everything and loaded up his dogs and came back to be with her.
He began in March of 1992, building on the property they had bought together in 1974, that started with no more than a fire pit and a bench. He eventually built what would become his forever home. Jaye was a member of the First Baptist Church of Belen.
Jaye is preceded in death by his parents; Clifford Arlin and Elsie May Gardner; his loving in-laws, Bob and Sharon Gehring; his oldest son, Shane; and his brother-in-law, Joe White.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jodie; sons, Jayson (Christine), Jesse (Alejandra); sister, Lorelei White and her sons, Chris and Geoff and their families; as well as his very loved grandchildren, Harley, Jax, Baylee, and Hazel Rose.
A memorial service for Jaye will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 4:00 pm, at the First Baptist Church of Belen.
