John Gonzales Obituary

John Steven "Steven" Gonzales

November 7, 1984 - September 17, 2026

John Steven Gonzales, affectionately known to
so many as Steven, passed away on September
17, 2026, at the age of 41.

Born on November 7, 1984, Steven was a
lifelong part of the Los Lunas community and
was a beloved son, husband, father, brother,
uncle, cousin, and friend. He was the son of
John and Maria Gonzales and grew up
surrounded by family, friends, and the people
who would become such an important part of
his life.

Steven was a man who was impossible to
forget. He was loving, kind, generous, and—if you
knew him well—very blunt. He had a personality
all his own and could make friends almost

anywhere he went. He was a true character,
always ready with a joke, a movie quote, or
something that would have everyone laughing.
And Steven was always looking sharp—he loved
to dress well and was never afraid to be a little
fly. He had his own style and knew how to put an
outfit together. Steven touched countless lives
throughout his 41 years and left memories with
people everywhere he went.

Steven took great pride in his work and loved the
people he worked alongside at 1st Care of New
Mexico and St. Anthony's Healthcare. He cared
deeply about the work he did and the people he
encountered along the way.

And then there were the Dallas Cowboys. Steven
wasn't simply a Cowboys fan—he was
completely and unapologetically obsessed. His
love for the Cowboys was something everyone
who knew him could tell you about. One of his
proudest memories was even catching a game

ball at a live Cowboys game.

Music was another huge part of Steven's life. He
loved having music playing constantly and could
often be found singing along. He especially
loved Tupac and Nelly, but his love for music
went far beyond any one artist or genre.

Steven loved movies, too, particularly The
Avengers and The Lord of the Rings, with Step
Brothers being among his favorites. He had a
way of turning his favorite movie lines into part
of everyday conversation, and those quotes
became just another piece of what made him
Steven.

He loved to cook, loved football, loved music,
loved movies, and loved making people laugh.
He also shared a special bond with his beloved
dog, Violet. She was more than a pet—she was
his companion and a cherished part of his
family. Their love for one another was quiet,
unconditional, and unmistakable. Violet will
forever be a special part of Steven's story and a
reminder of the love he gave so freely.

Some of the sweetest memories will be those
ordinary moments that meant everything—
especially playing Mortal Kombat with his son,
Jonmanuel, sharing music, cooking, laughing,
watching movies, and spending time with the
people and animals he loved.

Steven had a heart that was bigger than he
sometimes let on. He was the kind of person
who would give the shirt off his back to
someone who needed it. His generosity, loyalty,
humor, and willingness to show up for the
people he loved will be remembered by everyone
fortunate enough to have known him.

Steven was preceded in death by his paternal
grandparents, Eugenio and Epifania Gonzales;
his maternal grandparents, Eduvigen and

Dolores Perea; his aunt Linda Lopez; uncle
Trinidad Perea; aunts Rose Apodaca, Beatrice
Lucero, and Aurora Romero; uncle Nago
Gonzales; and cousins Rosa Saavedra, Derrick
Perea, and Leann Perea.

He leaves behind a family and community who
loved him deeply, including his parents, John
and Maria Gonzales; his wife, Marisela Delgado;
and his three beloved children, Johnissa Sylvana
Gonzales, Jonmanuel Steven Gonzales, and
Jaryanna Sapphire Gonzales.

He is also survived by his only sister, Jovana
Be'Ans, and her husband, Sharod; nephews Joe'l
and Jeremiah; nieces Sophia and Olivia; lifelong
friend Kevin Silk; sister-in-law Rosangelica Cruz
and her husband, Jorge; niece Camilla and
nephew Thiago; Gladys Flores and her husband,
Omar; nieces Ximena and Dayra; his in-laws,
Rosa and Manuel Delgado; his beloved dog
Violet; his many cousins; and countless other

relatives, friends, and loved ones who were
blessed to share a part of his life.

Steven leaves behind more than memories. He
leaves behind stories, laughter, movie quotes,
songs, football memories, family traditions, and
pieces of himself in the many people whose
lives he touched.

He was a son.
A husband.
A father.
A brother.

An uncle.

A cousin.
A friend.

And a beloved dog dad to Violet.

And to so many people, he was simply Steven—
the guy who made you laugh, told you exactly
what he thought, sang along to his music, talked
about the Cowboys, quoted a movie, cooked

something good, always looked fly doing it, and
somehow managed to leave an impression
wherever he went.

His time with us was far too short, but the love
he gave and the memories he created will
remain with his family and friends forever.

Rest peacefully, Steven. You will be loved,
remembered, and missed more than words can
ever say.

Until we meet again.
