Joe "Tata" Trujillo, age 88, a resident of Las Nutrias, New Mexico, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 16, 2025.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Trujillo and Manuel Trujillo; his brothers, Macky, Tony, and Val Trujillo; and sister, Cleo Latasa.

He is survived by his brothers, Manuel and Tommy Trujillo; sisters, Barbara Bowden and Maryann Lukesh; his children, Jeanette Montoya, Joann Trujillo, Christine Archuleta (Dennis), and Nadine Baca; his grandchildren, Lisa Baca (Paul), Tanya Montoya, Jeffrey Baca, Joshua Montoya, Valentina Vargas, Adrianna Baca, Candace Archuleta, Trisha Montoya, and Deanna Terrazas (Ramon); great-grandchildren, Kaci Frazier, Tre Frazier, Alejandro Montoya, Monique Baca, Lilianna Maldonado, Brooklyn Baca, Karina Maldonado, Averi Baca, Elijah Baca, Prince Archuleta, Nailah Archuleta, Zariyah Terrazas, and Azeliyah Terrazas; great-great-grandchildren, Jackson Frazier and Lilly Frazier.

Joe was born in Aragon, New Mexico, on June 24, 1936. From an early age, Joe worked hard and dedicated his life to providing for his family. He worked until he no longer could as a wood hauler. He was a devout Catholic who raised his children on faith. Joe was a successful business owner and made well for himself. His integrity and confidence set him apart from others.

Every morning, without missing a beat, he'd make his bed. It was his official start to the day. He had "short sleeper syndrome." He enjoyed watching rodeos and basketball on tv, and never turned down a chance to have some coffee or meet up with his buddies at the bar, to play pool, and just shoot the breeze. He was the best story teller, and captivated the attention of all when he'd start telling his tales.

Above all, Joe enjoyed the quality time spent with his family. Whether it be a family vacation, or just time spent at the house, there was no place he'd rather have been.
