Joseph Raymond Davila, Jr.

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph R. Davila, Jr., affectionately known to his family and friends as "Pipa," "Joe," and "Joby." Joseph passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, humility, service, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Joseph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, proud Army veteran, and friend. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a service that reflected the quiet courage, honor, and selflessness he carried throughout his life.

Above all else, Joseph was a family man. He shared more than fifty years of marriage with the love of his life, Lucerita "Lucy" Davila, who preceded him in death. Their love and commitment to one another was evident to everyone who knew them. He loved Lucy more than life itself, and after her passing, there was never a day that he didn't miss her. Their reunion is a source of comfort to those who loved them both.

Joseph was a proud and loving father. Through quiet strength, heartfelt advice, and simply being present, he helped shape his children's lives and guided them through life's greatest joys and challenges. His unwavering support and unconditional love created a foundation that will continue to influence generations of his family.

He was a proud grandfather and a cherished great-grandfather. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him immense pride, and nothing made him happier than seeing his family together.

Joseph found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved Lucy. He could often be found in his shop making metal art, repairing any and everything or just "puttering around". Family gatherings were among his greatest joys. Though naturally quiet, he never missed a moment. He listened intently, observed with a warm smile, and found happiness simply watching his family laugh, visit, and create lasting memories together.

Known for his generosity and compassion, Joseph would gladly give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He was a pillar of strength, wisdom, integrity, and unconditional love. His humble nature, steady presence, and willingness to help others left an unforgettable mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Joseph is survived by his three children, Catherine (Gregorio) Romero, Joseph (Nidia) Davila III, and Yvonne (Julian) Avalos; his nine beloved grandchildren, Justin (Augusta) Roberts, Alicia Romero, Destiny (Jason) Romero, Marissa (Melissa) Romero, Dylan Avalos, Gregorio Romero Jr., Daneyah Davila, Julissa Avalos, and Sorayah Davila; his three treasured great-grandchildren, Jason Romero III, Avery Romero, and Julius Romero; his brother, Michael (Loretta) Davila; his sister, Geri (Chris) Aerts; and many cherished nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lucerita "Lucy" Davila; his parents, Joseph R. Davila, Sr. and Helen Davila; and his brothers, Charlie Davila and Martin Davila.

While our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in the remarkable life he lived and the example he set. His quiet strength, unwavering love, generous spirit, and dedication to his family will continue to inspire all who knew him. Joseph was deeply loved, will be profoundly missed, and will forever remain in our hearts.

A visitation, viewing, and rosary will be held at Noblin Funeral Service on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 5:30 pm. A second visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at San Miguel Catholic Church at 10:00 am, followed by another rosary at 10:30 am. Mass will be recited at 11:00 am. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow at San Antonio Catholic Cemetery in San Antonio, New Mexico.
