Juan Mata Obituary

On November 28, 2021, Juan Mata, known simply as MATA, a loving Husband and Father, went to be with his Lord and Savior, at the age of 63. Mata’s story begins June 6, 1958, he was born in Denver, Colorado, where he spent his childhood with his parents and 8 siblings. Mata moved to Los Lunas, New Mexico in 1993, with the Love of his life, Donna Mata and their 3 children; Natalie, Amber and Gustavo. Mata married his “main squeeze”, Donna Mock on 1/2/1994. Donna and John’s love story went on to create 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. All their children brought Mata great joy; they were his heart. He took extreme pride in all of them.Mata was renowned for his construction skills. Although he was usually the Forman, he was always happiest when he was in digging a trench! Everyone knew, when Mata showed up to the jobsite, “ya’ll better be ready to work!” When Mata wasn’t working, he spent all his free time with his family, being a teacher of all things. His method was simple, he taught by example. Mata was strong in body, in spirit and in commitment, especially to our Lord, Jesus Christ. When our family faces obstacles, we always ask ourselves, “what would Daddy do”? Mata would like to let you know, His work here on earth is done. He received a call with an assignment from which he will not be returning. But this assignment comes with a huge sign on bonus – a reunion with family and friends, and especially his Son, Tavie! Mata is survived by his wife, Donna Mata, Daughter, Natalie Silva and husband, Laney Dixon, Daughter, Amber Mock, Grandchildren, Kyle, Lexy, Cheyenne, Marquel, Tavi, & Essence and Great Grandchildren, Levi and baby Ulibarri, all of Los Lunas, NM. Also survived by John are his sisters, Silvia Montez (Boulder CO), Minnie Balderamma (Greeley, CO), Margie Steele (Denver, CO), Maggie Rhoades and husband, Dusty (Greeley, CO), Debbie Mata (Greeley, CO), Brother, Joe Mata and wife Edna (Greeley, CO) and many nephews and nieces. Preceded Mata in death is his Son, Tavi Gomez, Grandchild, Anaya Dixon and Mother and Father, Ester Torrez and Celestino Mata, Brothers, Francisco Mata and Adolph Mata. Mata was a wonderful man. He was loved, cherished, and will always be remembered.
