L.B. Tarry Obituary

1938-2022 LB Tarry, age 83, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away peacefully in his home, Thursday, June 23, 2022. He was born in a three-room log cabin on a homestead in Tingle, NM located about seventy-two miles south of Gallup, NM. LB moved to Belen in 1956 and graduated from Belen High School in 1957. He then married Patricia Howard on October 28, 1961, at the First Baptist Church of Belen, NM, where they were members at the time. LB was a locomotive engineer for the BNSF Railroad where he ran trains from Belen to Clovis for forty-one years until his retirement in October 2000. He served in the National Guard from 1957 to 1960 and then was drafted into the United States Army in January 1962. LB served until January 1964. He was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and served in Germany. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Los Chavez and the United Transportation Union. LB was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Bennie Tarry; sisters, Edna Childers, Doris Chick, Winona Walton, and Lavern Wilson. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia; two children, son, Travis and wife Evelyn of Las Cruces, NM and daughter, Linda Brasier and husband Robert of Belen, NM; sister, Roberta Hay of Adrian, Oregon; brother, Frank and wife Cindy of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Rachel Gentry and husband Austin of Las Cruces, NM; Tarry Michael Brasier of Belen, NM; and Emma Brasier of Belen, NM, and one great grandson Aiden Gentry of Las Cruces, NM. LB is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. A Memorial Luncheon in L.B.'s honor will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 12:00pm-2:00pm at the Los Chavez Baptist Church in Belen, New Mexico. A private graveside service will be held at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM at a later date.
