Larry McKenzie Obituary
In Loving Memory of Larry M. McKenzie
Larry M. McKenzie, 79, of Belen, New Mexico, and a longtime resident of Valencia County, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026.
Larry was a man of many talents and passions who lived a full and adventurous life. From a young age, he loved playing golf and was also involved in rodeo. For many years, Larry was a professional fisherman, a pursuit he deeply enjoyed because fishing was one of his greatest passions. He also loved tying flies and took great pride in the craft.
Later in life, Larry became a talented welder and carpenter. He was also a true artist, creating beautiful jewelry and dream catchers. Larry was a gifted chef and especially loved cooking for his family and friends. His many talents, creativity, and generous spirit made him someone who was cherished by those who knew him.
Larry was a member of the German Club, Council of ABQ, the American Bass Fishing Association, the Belen Shooting Sports Association, the Belen Goju Ryu Karate, and the Belen Senior Center, where he enjoyed playing pool.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Winfred "Mac" McKenzie and his mother is Johnnie Lee (Simpson) McKenzie.
Larry is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his brother, Clyde McKenzie; his son, Jason, and Jason's wife, Kristen; his grandchildren, Tyler and Jody; his son, Jesse, and Jesse's wife, Megan; his grandchildren, Myah and Mica; and many beloved cousins.
Larry will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his many talents, his love of the outdoors, his creativity, and most of all, his love for his family and friends. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Services for Larry will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel. A visitation will take place at 10:30 am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am.
