In Loving Memory of Leon William Hardcastle, born in Lovington, New Mexico on August 7, 1966, passed away in Veguita, New Mexico
on June 13, 2025
As a young man, Leon was a horse jockey—a chapter of his life that reflected both his courage and his deep bond with animals. Later in life, he found joy in the rhythm of everyday comforts: the satisfying crack of a pool cue, the soul-stirring melodies of classic country music, and the
familiar, heartwarming tastes of traditional Mexican food.
Leon had a deep love for the voices of George Jones, Hank Williams, Tammy Wynette, and Dwight Yoakam—artists who echoed the stories of his own life in every lyric. After a long day, you could find him right where he loved most: in his recliner, Mountain Dew in hand, playing pool on his phone and watching his favorite shows like Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, Bonanza, or a classic John Wayne film. Even Little House on the Prairie found its way into his rotation—testament to his appreciation for simple, honest storytelling.
Above all, Leon loved his family. He leaves behind his beloved significant other of 18 years, Kimberly Sue Kinsey, who stood beside him through life's journey. He is survived by his daughter, Codi Hardcastle; his stepchildren, Bryan Kinsey and Logan Kinsey; and his grandchildren, Davyelle Trollinger and Kamiyah Fields. He is also mourned by his siblings, Henry Hardcastle, Kathy Parks, and Josie Ciempa, each of whom he held close in his heart. Leon was preceded in death by his father, Billy Roy Hardcastle; his mother, Jessie Belle
Brazelton Hardcastle; and his sister, Nancy Vest.
Leon's legacy lives on in the laughter, memories, and love of his family and friends. May he rest in peace, cradled in the warmth of the life he so humbly lived. The family has set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for the expenses due to his unexpected passing. Please consider contributing
