Louis Chavez Obituary

Louis Gilbert Chavez passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, at the age of 84. He was surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of strength, devotion, and compassion for his family and those with whom he was close. He was a beloved husband to Elsie M. Chavez for 58 years. He was proud father to his sons Darrick B. Chavez with his wife Jessica Chavez, and John Madrid, along with his daughters Regina R. Chavez, and Ramona L. Chavez-Bland with her husband Jake Bland. He was also a very proud grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of 14 with another on the way. He cherished and adored all of his family. Gilbert, as he was known by his friends and family, was a man who truly loved life. He had a deep love for cars, sports, and history as he was always trying to learn more about history of the world and of course the history of his family. He was incredibly talented and wise, someone who could build, fix, and create with his hands, always finding a way to make things work and teaching others along the way. He was the person that his family could turn to with any questions and know he would always give the best advice and guidance in any situation.

Gilbert was a man who found his greatest joy in his family. He was blessed with ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. His grandchildren: Mykl, Alyx, Julia and her husband Kalvin, Andrew with his wife Jessica, Briana and her partner Luis, Raquel and her husband Mikey, Noah, Lucas, LaShae and her husband John —each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness. His legacy continues through his cherished great-grandchildren: Payton, Tytan, Aurora, Lane, Drew, Chevelle, Zarrah, Jayce, Braedyn, Brenden, Antonio, Brian and Blayke. Gilbert lived a life rooted in love, faith, and gratitude. He knew how truly blessed he was to be surrounded by such a strong and caring family, and he carried that knowledge with humility and joy. His presence was a steady source of comfort, his words were filled with wisdom, and his heart was always open. Gilbert is preceded in death by his son Darrick B. Chavez, and grandsons Jonathan Madrid and Louis Gilbert Chavez II. Though he will be deeply missed, his love remains in each of us, guiding and blessing our lives. May we carry forward his spirit of unity, kindness, and unwavering devotion to Christ and family.
