Lynda Christine (Engle) Goar

Lynda Christine Engle Goar, 79, of Mountainair, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026.

Born on March 1, 1947, in Mountainair, New Mexico, Lynda was the daughter of William and Clara Engle. She attended Mountainair schools from grade school through high school. One accomplishment she was especially proud of was being invited to join P.E.O. in 1965, an honor that reflected the kindness, generosity, and servant's heart she carried throughout her life.

On September 2, 1966, she married Glenn Winiford Goar. Together they welcomed two sons, Dale in 1967 and Dewayne in 1969. Lynda spent many years as a payroll clerk for the Mountainair Electric Co-op, where she was known for her dedication, strong work ethic, and the friendships she built throughout her career.

Above all else, Lynda loved her family wholeheartedly. There wasn't anything in the world she wouldn't do for the people she loved. She was always the first to encourage and support those around her to follow their dreams and do what made them happy. Some of her favorite memories were made at the family lake, where summers were spent making memories and carrying on traditions that lasted for generations. She also couldn't hardly pass up a good card game and the challenge of a puzzle, and those moments around the table brought her just as much joy as the people she shared them with.

Lynda was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Mountainair, where her faith remained an important part of her life.

Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, William and Clara Engle; her beloved husband, Glenn Winiford Goar; her son, Dale Goar; her granddaughter, Ashley Reneé Goar; sister Jo Ellen Montjoy and brother Robert (Bob) Lee Engle,,

She is survived by her son, Dewayne Goar; her grandson, Ty Goar; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Mountainair, followed by funeral services beginning at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will immediately follow at Mountainair Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dewayne Goar, Ty Goar, John Montjoy, Charlie Montjoy, Jimmy Autrey, and Larry Autrey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Mexico Make-A-Wish or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
