Manuel Vela, age 85, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026. He was born to Maria Vela on May 30, 1940.
Manuel is preceded in passing by his mother; his wife of 55 years, Frances Vela; sons, James Molina, Santos Vela; and his daughter, Patricia Montoya.
He is survived by his daughter, Becky (Pete) Gutierrez; grandchildren, James (Natisha) Gutierrez, Victoria (Robert) Jaramillo, Vanessa (Phillip) Romero, and Stephanie Montoya; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Lucas, Aleah, Zeke, Jocelyn, Iris, Matteo, and Jeremiah. Manuel is also survived by many other family members and friends.
Manuel showed his perseverance from a young age when he came to the US from Mexico where he was born. He used his grit and tenacity to become a successful business owner, owning his own painting company, "Spectrum Painting." His perfectionism and eye for beauty led him to be successful in his endeavors. From his painting projects, to his yard, everything he did was meticulous and beautiful. His green thumb was admirable and his flower beds and rose gardens were one for the books.
He was a devout catholic, and was strong in his faith. He loved nature and birds. Later in life he "inherited" a parrot, "Kiki" from his neighbor. Kiki went on to become his fun and faithful companion. His home was filled with Ranchera and Oldies music, but most of all it was filled with welcoming and love.
Private services for Manuel will be held at a later date. Pallbearers will be Pete Gutierrez, James Gutierrez, Lucas Gutierrez, and Anthony Jaramillo.
Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, where an online guest register is available at www.noblin.com
