Maria "Luisa" Montoya, 91 years of age, resided in Belen, New Mexico, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 21, 2026. She was a faithful member of Primera Iglesia Bautista Bilingüe (First Bilingual Baptist Church) in Albuquerque and Primera Iglesia Bautista in Silver City, New Mexico, as well as attended Valley Baptist Church in Rio Communities. She served in the Women's Missionary Union, children's church, and as Rescue Mission volunteer. As a pastor's wife, she served alongside her husband sharing the Gospel, praying for people and visiting the sick throughout New Mexico in Santa Fe, Silver City and Belen/Rio Communities. She is survived by her loving family: children, Lorencita Lopez (Eddie); Eliseo Montoya, Jr., (Alice); Raymond Montoya (Yolanda); David Montoya (Sonia) and niece, Felipa Jaramillo (Frank); grandchildren: Amanda Rittner, Valerie Lopez, Daniel Montoya, Joshua Montoya, Leah Ibañez, Cristabel Alexander, Raymond Montoya II, and Brandon Montoya; 10 great grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren; sisters: Anita Ruiz, Eva Muñoz, and Elida Garza; brothers: Teodoro Garza, Anastacio Garza, Jr., and Adan Barrera; sister-in-law, Juanita Garza; brothers-in-law: Joe Montoya and Carlos Zamora.
Preceded in death by: husband, Eliseo Montoya, Sr.; parents, Anastacio Garza and Maria Ybarra Garza; brothers, Epifanio Garza, Adolfo "Chico" Garza, Jenaro Garza, Reynaldo Garza, and Adan Garza; parents in-law, Francisco and Maria Baca Montoya; brothers-in-law: Climaco Montoya and Nestor Peralta; sisters in-law: Flora Baca, Molly Cordova, Mary Vargas, Terry Proctor, Selfa Gutierrez, Cecilia Torres, Margaret Zamora and Timmie Peralta.
Services for Maria will take place on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at First Bilingual Baptist Church in Albuquerque, NM. A visitation will be held at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Maria will be laid to rest at 1:00 pm at Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen, NM.
Pallbearers will be Grandchildren: Amanda Rittner, Valerie Lopez, Daniel Montoya, Joshua Montoya, Leah Ibañez, Cristabel Alexander, Raymond Montoya II and Brandon Montoya
Honorary pallbearers are 10 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
