Mary Cecilia (Chavez) Garcia

Mary Garcia, 70, of Pueblitos, New Mexico was called home to be with our lord on June 12th, 2026. She was born on August 20th, 1955 in Belen, NM to Juan and Didia Chavez.

Mary was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ and lived her life with a heart full of love for God and her family. Mary was a hardworking woman, and she took pride in maintaining her property. She was always starting new projects and had lots of ideas when it came to reinventing her home. A favorite hobby of Mary's was yard sales. If she wasn't shopping at them, she was having one of her own. She was known to have at least 2-3 every year.

Mary loved being a bartender and was very good at it. Her smile and inviting personality brought in numerous customers and created many long lasting friendships throughout the years. Many came to know her as "Auntie Mary" during this time in her life.

She was known for making delicious tamales and the best Bloody Mary's. She had a great love for music. It was her constant companion from the moment she woke up till the moment she went to sleep, there was always music playing in the background. As we all know Stevie nicks was her favorite artist and she created many special memories listening to her music and attending her concerts. Mary loved being in the mountains and especially loved hosting and coordinating family reunions. Her thoughtful spirit, loving heart, caring nature and selflessness will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Nestor Chavez; Parents, Juan and Didia Chavez; Brothers, Richard Chavez & Pat Chavez, In-Laws, Lupe Chavez, Lisa Chavez, Albert Boyd Romero, Ben Martinez, Robert Beasley and Manuel Marquez.

Mary leaves behind a large and loving family. She is survived by her daughter Robin Silva (David Silva), daughter Nicole Garcia. Sisters; Cipri Romero, Molly Martinez, Susan Beasley, Dora Chavez & Lorraine Marquez. Brothers; Marty Chavez (Jean), Ray Chavez (Louise), Billy Chavez & Dennis Chavez (Frieda).

She was a proud grandma to 7 grandchildren; Richard Chavez, Alexis Silva (Crystal), Marissa Silva, David "Bubba" Silva, Aletycia Chavez, Heavenly Chavez & Uzziah Chavez. She was also blessed with 5 great grandchildren; Lucas, Jaxon, Alora, Wrenley & Rosalie.

Services for Mary will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley in Belen, NM. A visitation will be held at 9:30 am, followed by the funeral service at 10:00 am. Mary will be laid to rest immediately following the services at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Lenny Silva, Billy Chavez, David Silva Jr, Richard Chavez, Tommy Chavez, Dennis Connelly, and Robert Romero. Honorary pallbearers will be Julie Padilla, Kim Martinez, Aletycia Chavez, and Heavenly Chavez.
