Matthias Wynkoop Sr, age 40, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, tragically left this life on February 1, 2024. Matthias was born in Florida in 1983, to Florence Thompson and Richard Wynkoop.
He is preceded in passing by his father. He is survived by his son, Matthias Joel Wynkoop, Jr; mother, Florence Thompson; stepfather, David Suarez; sisters, Donna Drake, and Marshia Torres; brothers, Christopher Kirkman, and Stephen Osborn; as well as stepsiblings, David Suarez, Stephanie Suarez, and Sarah Suarez. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who he cared for deeply.
Matthias was a dedicated worker and was a talented roofer. Although he was dedicated to his task at hand, he enjoyed his off time by fishing, hunting, mud running, hiking, playing football, and partaking in fireworks and their "booms and beauty." Being outdoors was by far his "happy place."
He was a Christian and never let anything come between him and his beliefs.
Matthias had many talents; musical not being spared. He played the trumpet and the keyboard with ease and passion. Not in agreeance with some of his family members, he loved Country and Classic Rock. Country was what you'd catch him listening to at any given time.
Per usual, there is always at least one Dallas Cowboy's fan in the family, and that was Matthias! A divided household on Sunday's, he wasn't shy to let everyone know who he was rooting for.
More than anything, Matthias was a dedicated and loving Father to his son, Matthias Jr. His love for him was unwavering and nothing else could come close to how proud of his son he was.
Matthias' family shared many fond memories with him. Only to name a few, there was the 4th of Julys spent together, the hunting trips, and the times his sister would dress him up like a baby doll when they were kids.
Matthias Jr's favorite memories were the ones when the two of them went fishing at the river and Matthias Sr taught him how to shoot a BB gun.
