Michael Manuel Kevin Maestas

Michael Maestas passed away Tuesday, November 23 after a short illness. Michael was a graduate of Belen High School and New Mexico State University and a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. His dog, T.J. was his world. He also loved his children, grandchildren and all his family very much. He was a thoughtful man and had a kind heart. There wasn't a human being Michael wouldn't be willing to do anything for. He was a devoted son and took care of his mother through her final years. Michael was employed by New Seasons Treatment Center where he worked as a counselor. He was a graduate of New Mexico State University.

Michael is preceded in death by his mother's fiancée, Anthony Cass; his grandparents, Alvaro and Daisy Maestas; his brothers Jeffrey Kear and Joseph Lucero, his step-father, Joe Lucero; his mother-in-law, Ida Morris; his mother, Jeannie Maestas; cousin, Christopher Montano; and his uncle Manuel Romero. He is survived by his children Samantha (Mikeal) and Abel Maestas, grandchildren Mikeal Jr., Serenity and Felix Hurtado and Zayvin Maestas; his uncle Kenny (Nora Maestas) and aunts, Carol Romero and Debbie Trujillo and his friend Teresa Morris. He is also survived by his sister, Sharla Kear. He also leaves behind many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Lucero, Jeffrey Lucero, Abel Maestas, Anthony Nieto, Dominic Sanchez and Matthew Romero.
