Patricio (Pat) Esquibel Padilla, Sr. age 71, resident of Mountainair, New Mexico passed away on August 28, 2023. Pat was a member of St. Alice Catholic Church. The youngest of 5 brothers, Pat grew up in Abo, and graduated from Mountainair High School in 1970. After graduation, Pat enlisted in the United States Army where he served in Vietnam, stationed in Korea. Following his military service, Pat settled in Mountainair and raised 4 children, teaching them a love for horses and music and could often be found with his guitar in hand. He also instilled in his children strong work ethic and unparalleled sense of perseverance. Pat retired from the NM State Highway Department in 1991. He married Graciela (Catano) Padilla in 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents Fidel & Patricinia (Esquibel) Padilla; his twin and his Godson, Michael Anthony Padilla. He is survived by his children, Patrick (Patricia) Padilla of Manzano, Lisa (Calvin) Downey of McAlister, Alexandria Padilla of Albuquerque and Ray (Martha) Padilla of Belen; 17 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; aunt, Lenor Flores; brothers, Eulalio (Delia) Padilla of Abo, Pete (Margaret) of Albuquerque, Ralph (Dora) of Albuquerque and Henry of Tome; also surviving are numerous cousins. All services will be held at the San Lorenzo Catholic Church in Abo on Friday, September 8, 2023, beginning with a viewing at 10:00 AM, followed by a rosary at 10:30 AM and the funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Internment will follow in the San Lorenzo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Downey, Warren Oberg, Danny Padilla, Steve Sanchez, Calvin Downey and Alfredo Villa. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Padilla, Ruben Miranda, Lalo, Pete, Ralph and Henry Padilla.
