Percy Montoya, age 81, of Belen, New Mexico, passed away at his home on March 2, 2025.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Vivianita Montoya; wife, Barbara Santillanez Montoya; sons, Matthew and Deacon Michael Montoya; daughter-in-law, Brenda Montoya; sisters, Tillie Gutierrez, and Irene Montoya; great-granddaughter, Serena Robles; nephews, Fermin Gutierrez and Stanley Gutierrez, who he loved as a brother; and niece Monica Montoya.
Percy is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Stephen) Aragon; brother, Richard Montoya; grandchildren, Theresa (Ernesto Martinez) Robles, Korey Robles, Adrian Montoya, and Abigail Montoya; granddaughter-in-law, Rosie Chavez; great-granddaughter, Alyssa Robles & companion Marcella Pacheco and her family; several nieces and nephews.
Percy started his career as a young boy shining shoes. He went on to work at Sears for several years in the shoe department. He then went on to become a correctional officer at the Santa Fe Prison. After his retirement from the prison, he helped raise his grandchildren.
He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved his "granddogs," Pepper Aragon, and Daisy. Percy was also a member of the Knights of Columbus at Holy Family Catholic Church for several years.
Services for Percy will take place on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. A visitation will take place at 9:00 am, followed by a rosary at 9:30 am. Mass will then be recited at 10:00 am. Immediately following mass, Percy will be placed to rest at the Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Korey Robles, Theresa Robles, Cheyenne Silva, Castiel Silva, Marty Pacheco, and Sally Silva.
Honorary pallbearers are Marcella Pacheco, Adrian Montoya, Matthew Montoya, Michael Montoya, Richard Montoya, Stephen Aragon, and Stanley Gutierrez.
