Philip Mann Obituary

Philip A. Mann passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, at the age of 90.

He was born on February 9, 1935, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He bravely entered the U.S. Navy at just 16 years old, serving aboard the USS Colahan
(DD-658). During his time in service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, China Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal.
He was a proud Korean War veteran who loved sharing stories of his time aboard ship with his great-grandchildren.

Later in life, he established a career with the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department, where he retired in 2006. Philip found joy in many things: the thrill of horse racing, the quiet escape of reading, and the peacefulness of gardening. He could often be found watching his beloved hummingbirds. His greatest joy, however, came from the daily phone calls he shared
with his brothers and sister—calls that always ended with an "I love you."

He also loved a good bowl of beans and red chile, and no meal was complete without a bowl of vanilla frozen yogurt. His warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Andrew Mann; his mother and stepfather, Fannie and Joe Armijo; his wife, JoAn A. Mann; and his granddaughter, Reigan A. Sanchez.

He is survived by his siblings, Dewey and Charlotte Mann, Eddie and Connie Mann, and Loraine and David Bratt. He is also survived by his children, Gregory and Keri Mann, Donna and Buddy Sanchez, and Diana E. Mann; his nieces and nephews; his grandchildren, Amanda Sanchez and Cody Gibson, Johnny Sanchez, Scotty Hobbs and Samantha Mann, and Devin and Daniella Tafoya; and his great-grandchildren, Taedon, Karleigh, Kaitlynn, Treven, Tracen, Karsyn, Jack, Bohdi, Kenny, and Lilah.

The family would like to thank the VA hospital doctors, nurses, and staff for their dedicated care and support. They also wish to extend their gratitude to Bosque Trails
Hospice for their compassion during his final days, and a special thanks to his caretaker, Patricia, for the love and care she provided over the past four years.

Per Philip's request, no formal services will be held. Instead, the family encourages you to celebrate his life by cherishing time with your loved ones and sharing your fondest memories of him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Los Lunas Chapel, where an online guest register is available at www.noblin.com
