Our Beloved Rebecca Chavez, a resident of Belen, NM, born October 14, 1967, passed away on, Wednesday, June 30, 2021. She was a beautiful, loving, courageous, and strong-willed woman. Rebecca was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a very charismatic individual who was always putting others before herself, even on her roughest days. Rebecca worked at Pizza Express for many years and then went on to work for Staples. She then was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2003. Rebecca continued working throughout her chemo therapy sessions. She continued battling this disease for many years as it metastasized. In 2008 Rebecca traveled to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston with the help of friends, family and the community. She was accompanied by her husband Thomas and a life long friend Donna Tafoya Bernal. To many of us Rebecca was the strongest and bravest warrior battling her cancer. After 18 years fighting, she finally succumb her fight with this horrible disease. Rebecca is preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine Trujeque Romo; father, Hilario (Lalo) Romo; and daughter, Crystal Romo. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Chavez; son, Josh Chavez (Krystal Saiz); granddaughter, Arianna Romo; sister, Hope Romo; nieces, Tiffany and Marissa Montoya; and great-nephew, Santiago. Rebecca is also survived by many other loving family members and friends. Urn bearers are Josh Chavez, and Arianna Romo. Services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Saturday, July 10, 2021. A Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m., and Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Belen Eagle Park Community Center Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, 418 W.
