Richard W Hofheins

it is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Richard W. Hofheins age 84, a resident of Los Lunas, NM on June 28, 2021. Richard was born on April 6, 1937, in Albuquerque, NM. and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He joined the United States Army in 1958. He met and married the love of his life Theresa in April of 1961. Richard and Theresa were married for 53 wonderful years; having four beautiful children. Richard was an avid hunter and fishermen and enjoyed being in the mountains camping. He was a member of the Wounded Warrior Project for injured veterans and a supporter of national law enforcement officers.

Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Theresa; grandson, Phillip Vigil; brothers, Arlen, Ronnie and Kenneth; sister, Bonnie Smith; parents, Fred and Winifred; mother-in-law, Betty Wood; sister-in-law, Jean Dewalt and brother-in-law, Tom Higgins and wife, Jeanene. Richard is survived by his children, Sandra Hofheinz, Chris Hofheins, Elizabeth Sambrano and Joe, Andrew Hofheins and Lori; 8 grandchildren, Lauren and Joel, Theresa and Jonathan, Julia and Rudy, Christopher, Carlos and Erica, Shianne, Joshua, Katelynn and Noah; 10 great-grandchildren, Simara, Shayla, Alyssa, Kirsten, Michael, Baileyann, Aaliyah, Phillip, Aubree and Ariana; sister-in-law, Elizabeth McDonald; brother-in-law, Lake and many more very close family and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Ambercare Hospice, Erica Nelson, Bill Reinicke, Joel Steen and Roseann Matthews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. at Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel with burial to follow at Sandia Memory Gardens at 2 p.m. military honors will be present to lay Richard to rest. Pallbearers are Joseph Sambrano, Carlos Vigil, Joshua Sambrano and Rudy Calderon.
