Richard Miller Obituary

Richard L. Miller Jr, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, at the age of 80 in Los Lunas, New Mexico.

Richard was a proud member of First Baptist Church in Bosque Farms where he found deep joy and spiritual renewal. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior five years ago and was deeply grateful for the love and support of his church family. When asked what he would have done differently in life, Richard answered that he would have wanted to have a relationship with Jesus sooner.

A self taught guitarist, Richard played for more than 65 years. He was a member of local bands including The Mystics and King Richard and the Knights. He taught his son Keith to play guitar and played often, sharing his love of music with family and friends. His music brought joy to many and was a constant source of happiness throughout his life.

Richard was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, bow hunting, and fishing, especially hunting with his eldest son Lonnie and fishing with his cherished friends. He also had a passion for woodworking and spent countless hours building treehouses, ponds, and gardens around his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents Richard L. Miller Sr. and Ruth Miller, his sisters Dottie Carlson and Pam Miller, his niece Denise Carlson, and his nephew Ron Carlson.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Gwendolyn Miller who he was married to for 54 years, his sons Lonnie Jernigan ( Loretta Herrera), and Keith A. Miller (Amanda Cerkleski), Cousin Jacque Miller. He adored his only grandson Cody Jernigan and held a special place in his heart for him.

Celebration of Life with music will be held on Saturday October, 11, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. At First Baptist Church in Bosque Farms, 1350 Bosque Farms Blvd, Bosque Farms, NM 87068. Dinner will follow.
Interment will take place at a later date.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Lonnie Jernigan, Cody Jernigan, Jacque Miller, Richard Bean, Ron Williams, Roger Parry, and Don Cook.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who prayed, visited, brought food, and offered comfort during Richard's final days. Your kindness and presence meant the world.

Richard's life was a beautiful blend of faith, music, craftsmanship, and love. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
