Robert Thomas Fuqua

Robert Thomas "Tommy" Fuqua, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away August 23, 2026. Tommy lived life to the fullest.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda, his children, Phillip Ray (Paula), Anissa Vincent (Dan), RJ Fuqua (Stacey), Dawn Levine (Dave). His sister Judy Davis (Kenneth), and his grandchildren, great-grand children and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Girth Fuqua, His mother Eva Pearl Fuqua. And his sister Georgia Kay Peerman.

Tommy was a graduate of Belen High School in 1966 while at the same time working as a switchman for the Santa Fe Railroad. Drafted in February of 1967, he served 2 years in the U. S. Army and received an honorable discharge. He worked for many years as a cable splicer/Engineer and Supervisor for a telephone company in Las Vegas, Nevada, from which he retired.

Tommy loved life! He greeted each day with a positive can-do attitude even if it wasn't the best of days. Tommy loved to call, text and visit his children & grandchildren regularly, reaching out to let them know he loved them and how proud he was of them.

Tommy was a man of his word and someone his family and friends could always depend on. He was the kind of person who showed up, stood beside the people he loved, and made sure they never felt alone. He cared deeply for others and had a natural way of being in their corner.

He loved fishing, old cars and packing in as much fun as possible with his grandkids. Whether it was going for ice cream or just adventuring with them, he was always up for it. He loved to tell his kids "You gotta be tough to grow up in the west", and to them he was the toughest man they knew. His nieces and nephews called him "the fun uncle."

Tommy wasn't afraid to speak up for what he felt was right, especially when it came to standing up for others. His honesty came from a place of love and genuine concern for the people around him.

Although Tommy could be tough and strong when he needed to be, he also had a gentle and emotional side and a heart that was bigger than most people knew. He loved deeply, cared wholeheartedly, and was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. Those closest to him always knew they had someone who would support them, protect them, and be there when they needed him.

His calls, his texts, his detailed stories, his loving heart, and most of all, his presence will be deeply missed.

Services for Robert will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel. A visitation will take place at 10:30 am, followed by the memorial service at 11:00 am.
