Heaven has accepted another Angel into it's embrace. Robert Lee Edmond Strain passed peacefully at home, the morning of November 12th. Prior to his retirement, he was the President and owner of BJ Painting and Construction. Robert was a very proud American, a proud New Mexican, and a veteran of the United States Air Force, during the Vietnam War era. Robert was an extremely outgoing, extroverted, and very gregarious individual, who never met a stranger. He was the happiest when he was entertaining others, and his home was a comforting and welcoming place for all. He made instant friends with anyone with whomever he ever crossed paths with. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all who have offered and displayed their support and kindness during these times. They are eternally grateful. They also wish to extend their thanks to the professional staff of the Oncology and Cardiology Departments at Presbyterian Hospital. Kindly consider a donation to the American Cancer Society in his honor.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Alice Velarde-Strain; sons, Marc Archuleta and his partner, Jude Robin of Houston, Texas, Matthew Thomas Archuleta and wife, Griselda Archuleta of Los Lunas and Michael Phillip Archuleta and wife, Tamara Archuleta of Los Lunas, New Mexico. He is also survived by his grandchildren Caitlyn Marie Archuleta of Austin, Texas, Christopher Gonzalez (and wife, Melissa Gonzalez), Andrew Gonzales (and wife Alysha Gonzalez), Brandon Lee Archuleta, Eric Matthew Archuleta, Jaylyn Pamela Archuleta, and Santos Rodriguez, all from Los Lunas, New Mexico, as well as his wonderful great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his father, Clyde Strain of Gallup, New Mexico, his loving sisters Mary-Helen Garley, and husband Gerald Garley, Sandra Sanchez and husband Robert Sanchez, Patricia Peralta and husband James, Jacquelyn Strain, C. B. Strain (and wife Yvette), Sean Strain, Caroline Stansbury (and husband Bucky), and his loving god-daughter Amanda Torres, as well as a very large extended group of family and friends in the Valencia County communities.
The family will host an outdoor "Celebration of Life" for Robert at the family homestead at 23 Rufina Lane, Peralta, NM, 87042 at 10 am, on Thursday, November 19th. All are invited and all are welcome!
In consideration of the current health crisis, and out of respect for our father's patriotism, all those who can attend are expected to be masked, maintain social distancing, and protect their fellow citizens and loved ones. This would be his request.
