Sandra Viola Fischer passed away peacefully on March 6th, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 27th, 1944, in Dixon, New Mexico, to Ida and Augustine Benavidez.
Sandra lived a life defined by love and faith. Her journey began when she met her husband, Joseph Fischer, at a dance in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Joseph became the love of her life, and together they shared 61 years of marriage. Sandra was deeply admired for her unwavering faith in God, strong will, determination, and the profound love she showed to her family. Holidays were especially meaningful for her, as they brought the family together to celebrate and create cherished memories. Sandra was also renowned for her exceptional cooking, with her red chili being a particular favorite among her loved ones. She and her husband were devout members of St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church in Santa Fe, N.M., and later, the Church of the Incarnation Catholic Church in Rio Rancho, N.M.
Sandra will be fondly remembered by her beloved husband, Joseph Fischer; her daughter Michelle Bryant and her husband Daniel Bryant, Melissa Pedraza and her husband Santiago Pedraza, her son Joseph Fischer II and his wife Loisa Fischer and daughter Miranda Fischer. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Daniel Bryant II, Zachary Pedraza and his wife Angelica Pedraza, Anthony Fischer, and five great-grandchildren. Sandra's memory will be cherished by her godson Roy Benavidez and many other relatives and friends.
Sandra is preceded in joining the Lord by her beloved daughter, Roberta Renee Fischer; her mother, Ida Benavidez; her father, Augustine Benavidez; her sister, Priscilla Casados; her brother, Leroy Benavidez, and her sister Jane Sebille.
Pallbearers will be Zachary Pedraza, Daniel Bryant II, Sonny Gallegos, Robert Casados, Roger Casados, Raymond Griego, Roy Benavidez, Roy Benavidez jr. Honorary Pallbearers: Ronald Casados, Anthony Fischer, Daniel Bryant III, and Sophia Ray Pedraza.
The funeral services for Sandra Viola Fischer will be held at St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church, located at 1301 Osage Ave, Santa Fe, NM 87505, on April 1, 2026. The Rosary will commence at 10:00 with the mass following at 11:00. Interment will take place at Rosario Cemetery, located at 499 Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM 87501, at 1:00 PM. Following the interment, a reception will be held.
