Sandra Jeanette Wheeler(Goosie), lovingly known as "Sandy", passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, in New Mexico at the age of 85.
Sandra was born on March 22, 1941, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Johnnie and Clarence Goosie. She carried the warmth of her Southern roots throughout her life and was known for her fun-loving spirit, strong heart, and deep love for her family and friends.
Sandy enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved listening to Elvis Presley and Bret Michaels, trying her luck gambling, spoiling puppies, and gathering around good food with the people she loved. She had a lively personality, a warm sense of humor, and a way of making everyone around her feel welcomed. Her laughter, stories, and unforgettable spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Clarence Goosie; her beloved husband of 49 years, Harold Wheeler; and her sons, Eddie Wheeler and David Wheeler.
Sandra is survived by her daughter, Lisa Wheeler and fiancé Steve Lakey; her son, Russell Wheeler; her brother, Steve Goosie; and her beloved grandchildren: Jasmine Vineyard, Richard Wheeler, Robert Wheeler, Jessica Wheeler, Amanda Paris, Jeffrey Brown, Lacey Esslinger (Jason), Sidney Gonzales (Lorenzo), and Destery Wheeler. She also leaves behind many cherished great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.
Above all else, Sandy loved her family. To her grandchildren, she was simply "Granny," a name spoken with love, comfort, and countless memories. The joy she brought to others, her resilience, and the love she shared so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
The family asks that Sandra be remembered not for the way her life ended, but for the wonderful life that she lived.
A memorial service will be held to honor Sandy's life on Friday July 17, 2026 at 12pm. Services will be held at Noblin Funeral Home in Los Lunas: 2211-D E. Main St. Los Lunas, NM 87031.
